Solana Network Hits 65,000 TPS Record During Meme Coin Frenzy, Zero Downtime

Solana's mainnet beta achieved a new throughput record of 65,000 transactions per second (TPS) on Sunday during a peak meme coin trading frenzy, while maintaining full network availability — a stark contrast to the multiple outages that plagued the network in 2022 and 2023.

The stress test came as a new meme coin project launched and generated extraordinary trading volume within hours. Validators processed the load without any degradation in finality times, which averaged 400ms throughout the event.

Solana Foundation CEO Lily Liu attributed the improved resilience to the QUIC protocol upgrade and stake-weighted QoS implementation rolled out over the past year. "This is what we've been building toward," she posted on X (formerly Twitter).
